In Favor of Life
Undoubtedly, many readers of this blog have already stumbled across the highly controversial new ad “celebrating” (I realize this is a less than ideal descriptor) the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. While I certainly don’t want to promote it further, you can find a link to it here so you are familiar with the content.

I don’t want to spend a great deal of time dismissing the ad today. From what I have gathered so far, plenty of people are already demonstrating public outrage, calling the ad “sick,” “disgusting” and “way over the line.” Suffice to say here that I agree.
What I do want to highlight today instead is the story of Jen and Aaron Santor. They tell their story far better than I can and I encourage you to spend some time reading their own blog which chronicles the story of their journey towards adoption of a beautiful young boy named Andrew from Bulgaria.

I want to share their story with you for one simple reason: when held up next to one another, the beauty of life always outshines the darkness of death. The moral, spiritual, societal and emotional tragedy of legalized abortion is an unspeakable evil that needs to continually be brought into the light of day, exposed for what it is, and ended. I believe that Every time someone makes the choice that the Santor family made, life over death and defense of the fatherless, victory comes.
I frequently abstain from the hyperbolic talk of Christianity as war, and battle, and enemies, and overcoming. But today the story of the Santor family, full of sacrifice and love and faith, contrasted in the dim light of a pro-choice commercial celebrating 40 years of murder, and selfishness compels me to ask everyone who names the name of Christ to stand for life. To defend those who cannot defend themselves: to speak for those that don’t have a voice and to rescue the abandoned and forgotten. The Santor family has courageously agreed to join God in the expansion of his Kingdom by welcoming home a child without parents. I pray it inspires you to do the same with the opportunities, both great and small, that God offers in your own life. We were all orphans once, and in God we find an invitation to gain a father who will never abandon us, never forsake us, and never celebrate our death. Join him in his rescue of others just like you, just like me…just like Andrew Santor.
